• Upon initial evaluation, expect:

    • A thorough discussion about your current activity limitations, goals, medical history, and pelvic organ function. This part can sometimes take up over half of the evaluation process as the information is so important in leading the therapist to a conclusion about why you are experiencing your symptoms.

    • An examination of the pelvic floor and surrounding anatomy. Typically an internal digital examination (one gloved finger) of the pelvic floor is recommended. This is the most efficient way for the therapist to assess the strength, endurance, and tone of the pelvic floor muscles.

    • A completely judgement free zone. At Integrated Pelvis, we understand that pelvic therapy is often intimate and contains personal information. Always remember that your physical therapist has your best interest at heart.

    • An exercise program and techniques tailored to you. Your therapist will prescribe exercises and techniques specific to your condition to begin working on until your follow- up session. Performing the recommended exercises as prescribed is crucial to optimal recovery.

  • If any of the following apply to you, it may be time to reach out for pelvic floor therapy support:

    • You experience any amount of urinary leakage.

Yes—even if you’re pregnant, postpartum, or going through menopause and have been told leakage is “normal for your age.” While incontinence is common (affecting approximately 50% of women), it is not normal. You deserve care that addresses the root cause.

You are currently pregnant or have been pregnant within the past two years.

Pregnancy creates significant changes in posture, body mechanics, balance, and core function. Whether you're preparing for birth or recovering postpartum, pelvic floor physical therapy can help restore strength, stability, and confidence.

You’ve had pelvic or abdominal surgery.

Surgical procedures in the pelvic or abdominal area can impact the pelvic floor due to the interconnected nature of the myofascial system. These changes can lead to decreased support and stability—pelvic PT can help restore balance and function.

    You experience pain with intimacy.

Painful intercourse, vaginal dryness, or reduced hip mobility may indicate tight or overactive pelvic floor muscles. In these cases, kegels may not be appropriate—and a targeted, individualized treatment plan can make all the difference.

    You are perimenopausal or postmenopausal.

Menopause leads to a natural decline in estrogen, a hormone that supports blood flow and lubrication. This hormonal shift can contribute to symptoms like vaginal dryness, pelvic pain, urinary urgency, burning, and leakage. Pelvic floor therapy can help manage these symptoms and improve your quality of life.

This list in not conclusive… If you are unsure about whether or not you will benefit from pelvic rehabilitation, contact Integrated Pelvis at (727) 416- 1266 or desiree.lopez@integrated-pelvis.com.

  • Why Integrated Pelvis is an Out-of-Network Provider

At Integrated Pelvis, we intentionally operate as an out-of-network or "fee-for-service" provider—because we believe this is the best way to deliver the kind of high-quality, personalized pelvic health care you deserve. Here’s why this model works better for you:

    1. You get one-on-one care, every time.

As an out-of-network provider, we eliminate the limitations imposed by insurance so you receive the full, uninterrupted attention of your personal physical therapist at every visit. You will never be passed off to an aide or a different therapist each time. From your first session to your last, you'll have consistent, expert care tailored to your body, your goals, and your unique story. No cookie-cutter treatments—just whole-body, individualized healing.

    2. You heal faster, with less red tape.

Pelvic health issues often require timely and consistent treatment, but traditional clinics are frequently backed up with long wait times—especially for pelvic floor specialists. Insurance limitations can delay both your initial evaluation and follow-up sessions. At Integrated Pelvis, you and your therapist decide how often you’re seen (typically every 1–2 weeks) so your care is consistent and focused. No long gaps, no waiting on approvals—just steady progress toward lasting results.

    3. You decide what ‘integrated’ looks like.

In-network care often means insurance companies define your progress, dictate what’s “functional,” and determine when your therapy should end. But pelvic floor conditions are nuanced and don’t always fit neatly into insurance checkboxes. At Integrated Pelvis, we believe you know your body best. Whether you want to return to running, feel confident postpartum, or simply be pain-free during your daily routine—we’re here to support your goals, not limit them.

Your health, your time, your life—you’re in control, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
